“Can I import a boat from the USA?” I hear you ask… “Can I import an American boat trailer into Australia?”… “Is it still worth importing a boat while exchange rates are low?”

Hello bloggers. Sorry for the lengthy delay between posts, but since the introduction of our new SS Boats Australia website, we’ve been busy busy busy! And in answer to the above questions – yes, yes and yes! And despite exchange rates being a little low of late, our team at SS Boats Australia are still managing to find an abundance of cheap, used boats in the USA that are ideal for importing into Australia.

We are often asked if the American boat trailers can be imported and used on our roads. We usually suggest that buyers have a new boat trailer built to Australian specifications in the US to come with the boat. However, it is possible to import an American boat trailer for use on our roads with minimal modification prior to registration.

Recently, SS Boats Australia has helped buyers with the import and shipping of a number of boats, including a Chung Hwa 50 ft cruiser on a cradle shipped with a water to water service direct from Florida to Melbourne, a Bayliner 4588, a Bayliner 4387 and a Carver 40 aft cabin cruiser. A Boston Whaler 255 Conquest, a Seaswirl 2301, a Robalo 245 with new aluminium trailer, a Century 245, a Proline 26, a Seaswirl 2601, a Seaswirl 2301 and a Glacier Bay 26, just to name a few, were trailerable boats shipped RO/RO (roll on roll off).

So as you can see, the boat import industry is as strong as ever and great time to finally import that boat you have always dreamed on and get on the water… give us a call!
